my first DIY canvas tote bag

the unfinished product

Materials:

canvas cloth
old faded jeans
needle and thread
scissors
ruler
pencil

this one's quite easy to make but it took me about 9 and a half hours to do it BY HAND!!!
my fingers ache as i type this. i wouldn't advise anyone to hand sew a bag! i survived with minor injuries

i'm not happy with the design. it looks too boring. but it's the simplest design i could make with no sewing machine. i have no energy to paint and design it now so that will have to do. but at least i know the basics now and can experiment more next time.

one thing i realized is, i need a sewing machine! gotta buy this one.

how to make a lampstand

i decided to do the lamp base using wire used for making clothesline and thin wire for binding the two together. i first made a square base then i attached the receptacle for the bulb using two wires connected to two opposite corners. they're thick so they are able to support the bulb and the receptacle.

this is more difficult than the actual lamp! it took me more than an hour just to do this simple base. my fingers ache from twisting and bending the thick wire. and it's still not perfect but it will do! at least it's standing :)

the color of the lamp is more yellow now. maybe because the bulb is slightly elevated than before.

DIY projects!

i feel i need to challenge myself because i'm sooooo bored nowadays!

so i've decided to do DIY projects whenever i have free time. instead of spending my time surfing the net or watching TV!

my first DIY project is to make a lamp made of paper.  got a lot of help from this website

i'm calling it the Three Little Birds mood lamp :)
it's not perfect but it's my first DIY project so i'm quite proud of it!

Materials:

thick white paper
7W CFL bulb
receptacle
socket
cord
double-sided tape.
screwdriver
scissors
pencil
ruler

the base is still unfinished because i still need to do some hammer work. problem is i don't have a wood board and the nails i bought are not right. so for now i used the Ikea table mat as a temporary base. have to observe it though and make sure it's not a fire hazard.

good thing is, i already know how to connect the electrical wires (as taught by the kind salesmen from SM hardware section)! not afraid to touch it anymore :)

anyway, next stop is hand sewing (since i don't have a sewing machine yet) which i plan to learn by myself. i also plan to do some tie dying. the internet is going to be my teacher.  classroom setup just doesn't work for me. i get impatient learning things step by step. i have always liked learning things by trial and error, my own way. i'm not known to have a system of doing things.

---

i realized if you're bored with your life and you don't like how things are going, it's up to you to make a change and try to make it interesting. try to be happy and contented. others won't do it for you, not even your friends, family or loved ones.  we have our own lives to live.

you have to make the initiative and when you do, i'm sure they will be there to motivate and support you :)

will not be watching Jason Mraz :(

i just decided when i woke up this afternoon that it's not practical to watch the concert. i have to buy our Japan Rail Pass and that would cost 32K plus. aside from that, i have to buy us a new camera since i lent (or gave) our camera to my sister for her photography class. and i'm sure there will be lots to buy and spend for in Japan.

i'll just content myself by watching his Youtube videos:

so sad because i know for sure that this would be more enjoyable than RHCP concert because this one's more intimate it being an acoustic concert :(

it's so easy to kill nowadays

gone are the days when you have to stalk a victim for days to know his habits/routines. now, you just read his FB or Twitter and you'll instantly know where she is at that moment!

something like these:
I'm at San Francisco Gardens Condominium (Mandaluyong City, NCR)
(with accompanying map so killer won't get lost)

waiting for next flight — at BKK Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International.
(yes Totomai, ikaw yan!)

is flying to miami this morning.
(madaling abangan 'to sa airport!)

careful of posting your whereabouts. you might have a stalker! worse, a killer stalker!

senti mode while sketching

All The Way lyrics

When somebody loves you
It's no good unless he loves you - all the way
Happy to be near you
When you need someone to cheer you - all the way

Taller than the tallest tree is
That's how it's got to feel
Deeper than the deep blue sea is
That's how deep it goes - if its real

When somebody needs you
It's no good unless he needs you - all the way
Through the good or lean years
And for all the in between years - come what may

Who knows where the road will lead us
Only a fool would say
But if you'll let me love you
It's for sure I'm gonna love you - all the way
All the way

So if you'll let me love you
It's for sure I'm gonna love you - all the way
All the way
