the best hot chocolate ever

somebody gave this to Erik for Christmas. guess what, we consumed it in less than a week! it's that good! rich and so creamy!

much like the thick Spanish chocolate for dipping Churros but a little thinner.

i don't really understand this. i thought all chocolates were made from cocoa which are then made into cocoa powder. what does real chocolate mean? but never mind. it's what hot chocolate should taste like.

seriously considering

Rakenrol lamp!

materials:
film reel
18 gauge copper wire
coffee cup lids (8pcs) for the base
bulb
bulb receptacle
cord
glue

can you see the actors?

i had a different lamp in mind when i started but i ended up with this one. the hardest thing to do for me was how to support the lamp shade. i didn't know what to do so i just coiled some wire and made it adjustable (because i couldn't make it straight haha!). you can make it upright, or slanted, or even higher or lower.
on my decoupaged table

the shade is not perfectly shaped because i didn't measure (as usual) but it's part of the charm :) now, i have 11 more DIYs to do for my giveaways. it's a good excuse to practice my craft.

oh, Quark doesn't know i have film positives of his film. maybe i should give him this? hihihi

Writer not talker :-)

Ang articulate ko pag nagsusulat. Ambilis ko makaisip ng solutions as in. Pero kapag meetings na, ang tagal magsink in ng mga bagay sa 'kin. Bukod sa lumilipad ang utak ko pag nasa meetings ako. Nabo-bore ako sa maraming tao. Hay, i just realized this while writing an email earlier. If only i could be that articulate in person i could change a lot of things. Make things better.

earthquake dream

According to this link
To dream of an earthquake indicates that you are going through a major shift in your life. Your structural support is 'shaking.' This dream signifies your uncertainty, anxieties, and a feeling of being out of control. If you dream that you find shelter from the earthquake, then you will succeed in rising above these difficulties. If you become trapped, then you will lose what you have worked so hard for.

Very true. Good thing i survived it in my dream.

---
Anyway, this reminded me of the Feb. 25 dream of a GMA boss's son of a major flood that will allegedly put Manila underwater. The son is about 7 years old and has Asperger's syndrome, a kind of autism. But the son has special talents. He could sing ABC backwards at the age of 2. He sees dead people. Even predicts the future. Like before his grandmother died, he said, "Lola is coming home". After 3 days the lola died and when they saw the guest book in the wake, the cover title was "Lola is coming home" or something to that effect.

This son dreamt that his cousin is drowning in a big flood on Feb. 25 and that the whole of Metro Manila is underwater.

The family believes him so much because of his reputation of predicting the future so they all booked a flight for HK just so they won't be here on that day.

This has been circulating in GMA and actually, some of the creatives are making plans of going out of town that day. Some are playing it safe, me for one. If 1 or 2 days before Feb. 25, there's news of a storm coming (kahit signal no. 1 lang) I'll definitely inform my friends or maybe announce it on FB na! Bahala na magmukhang tanga hahaha.

a change is gonna come

i feel it in the air. anytime soon, i'll know where 2012 is going to take me.

it's quite scary but i'm blessed that the change is not going to come out of nowhere. i'm aware and i have a hand in what's going to happen to me.

2012, be nice to this sheep!

bag lining DIY

i don't buy bags from Bayo but i saw this blue faux leather bag in their shop at Rockwell just before Christmas. it was only less than P800

even before i brought it in Bacolod for the holidays (Dec. 27 onwards), it was starting to fall apart.

look at that velcro closure in the lining! it's actually causing the lining to disintegrate.  i'm not an expert but from the looks of it, i think it's a wrong choice of fabric with velcro.

so while spending the last of 2011 in Bacolod, i was thinking that when i get back i would definitely change the lining so i could still use the bag.  and today, i found the time to do just that. here it is now!

i just got the measurements of the old lining to make the new one.

i'm not a very good seamstress but so is the one who did the lining of this bag in the first place! when i took the whole thing out, i saw that they didn't even use overcasting to prevent fraying. and guess what, this bad seamstress did!

advice to Bayo, don't get bags from this supplier again for your loyal customers. as for me, I'm not going to buy a bag from you again.

sewing machine cover

finally found a use for this fabric my sister sent me from Australia.

before, my sewing machine looks like this...

now,  it's no longer naked!

i just cut out fabric pieces with the same length, width and height per side
(i added half inch to make sure) then i just sew them all together.
i also made sure the pattern is not upside down.

i feel fulfilled!

if i had P200M pork barrel to spend...

the members of Philippine Congress spent their pork barrels like this.

i would spend my imaginary P200M like this if i were Senator MSY :)

1. 50M goes to livelihood projects for the urban poor where they'll be paid to learn. first things first, they need to have alternative ways to earn money. hindi na siguro sila tatanggi kung may bayad naman!
these livelihood projects are connected to handmade and recycling. products will be exported to other countries mainly. that way the project can be sustainable.

2. 100M for relocating the families living near the rivers, waterways somewhere in the province. as in they'll need to get on a plane to come back to Manila! the livelihood projects in no. 1 should be connected to this and done where they will be relocated so they won't have reason to come back. if they do, ikukulong sila! hihihi.

3. the 50M goes to scholarships for children. since this is very small, priority will be given to those who relocated to the provinces.

4. i need another 50M for health care :(

if i were one of the families living along a dirty river and offered free education for my children, free income opportunity and a house of my own, lilipat na ko kahit sa bundok! fresh pa hangin :)
